i have a dream...

...Well, a few, anyway.

Picture this: Working at a state psychiatric facility for nearly
40% less salary than the national average in one's field, for the experience that one has...dealing with the hostility and apathy of staff on TOP of dealing with the very real and very important needs of the mentally ill...

OR...

FREELANCING.

Oh, man...how I miss it! I am well aware that I am NOT cut out for the 8-5, working for 1 establishment, mainstream working world. For ten years, I was in private practice as a music therapist, and although of course it was not ideal (no bennies, and I had several part-time teaching gigs to help make ends meet), I was able to create my own reality.

Enter marriage, the move to the Commonwealth of Kentucky...hmm, things vocationally are not so rosy here. So now I am calling on whatever creativity I have been blessed with in order to save my sanity, my health, and my marriage, and get the H*LL out of the current job situation. I'm looking at any and all options...the ideal would be a part-time baking situation, and part-time music therapy gig. And hopefully, soon after, maybe the dreams which I hold in the silence of my heart will come to pass as well.

If my ramblings haven't put you off by now... thanks! And I'll keep you posted!

Lest I get too cocky, let me introduce you to possibly the world's ugliest cookies. Ah, yes...a chilly Sunday, time on my hands...I thought I'd modify a recipe and make it with half the fat. Nice idea, in theory. The results? Welll...not so much.

Interestingly enough, they didn't taste too bad...although my husband hinted that the full-fat version might be the best way to go here. Bless his diplomatic cookie-loving heart. I admit he may be right, though. Live and learn.
